Jul 2010 We briefly discussed the advances in women’s suspenders over the ages, below are some pictures of the more recent multi-clasp suspenders which have evolved from 2, to 4, to 6 and even 8 or more claps so give you a rock solid connection with your women’s stockings.
I think one of the most ingenious developments in women’s suspenders though is the delightfully named ‘no buzz’ women’s suspenders. These are made entirely without any metal parts for the frequent flyers amongst us, so that you don’t have to get scanned and/or frisked when setting off the metal detector at airport security.
Not much use for the secret agents amongst us though, how else can we disguise our concealed firearms and throwing knifes if we can’t blame them on our suspender clasps any longer!
Of course if you have ever done a web search for suspenders you will know you have to make sure you explicitly search for women’s suspenders of you end up getting lots of pages all about men’s suspenders if you simply search for ‘suspenders’ as this is the term used to describe those ghastly sock suspenders worn by aging gentlemen, and those equally ghastly trouser braces. I swear the only person who should ever of worn those trouser braces was ‘rock on Tommy’ off the TV in the 80’s.
For us girls however there are a veritable feast of women’s suspenders available including beaded suspenders, leather suspenders, gold chain suspenders, crochet suspenders, embroidered suspenders, rubber, Lyrca and of course as many colour variations as you can think off.
In researching this article I was asking one of my men friends about his experiences with women in suspenders and as we sat there with our coffee, he gave out a big sigh and said “Ah Alison…” You know she made a big impression on him, because he tells me that was nearly 30 years ago! He says he remembers the first night they undressed together and she was wearing stockings and suspenders. It was the first time he had ever been with a woman who wore them, or a ‘real woman’ as he put it, and he was instantly a fan!
